      4 and organizations achieve critical goals despite daily distractions. By
      5 emphasizing actionable metrics over past results, this methodology bridges the
      6 gap between high-level strategy and practical execution.

      8 ## 1. Focus on the Wildly Important

     10 Selecting just one or two Wildly Important Goals (WIGs) ensures that your most
     11 critical objectives receive focused attention. The more priorities you attempt
     12 to juggle simultaneously, the less you will actually accomplish across the
     13 board. Narrowing your focus guarantees that these vital goals are not
     14 overshadowed by the distracting demands of routine work.

     16 ## 2. Act on Lead Measures

     18 Effective execution requires distinguishing between the two types of tracking
     19 metrics: lag measures and lead measures. Lag measures, such as total revenue or
     20 weight lost, track final results that can no longer be changed once they are
     21 recorded. Conversely, lead measures are predictive, actionable daily
     22 activities—like making sales calls or exercising—that you can control to
     23 actively drive those end results.
